Episode 5 – Meet Sandy and Her Antique Quilts

I hope you enjoy the interview with Sandy.  She has great tips about antique quilts – where to find them, how to care for and store them.  If you need more information about antique quilts, let me know and I can put you in touch with her.

I decided not to put pictures of the Under the Sea challenge yet.  I will put them up next time and let you know how terrible I did in the challenge. =)

Here are some pictures of my quilting “studio” if you are interested.  Everything was sort of picked up…

Episode 4 – Flynn Is In!

So I finally tried the John Flynn quilt frame and rate it 5 stars!  Listen to the show and find out what I did wrong, what I did right and how to create your own leaders.

Podcast: Episode 4 – Flynn Is In!

Yea!  I finally have music.  I know it’s a bit long and needs to be edited down, but I thought it was fun for now.  I will shorten it later.  The music is “Luv My Mama” from the CD Blues Tunes at:

Things I have been working on:

I apologize for the picture quality.  Our professional camera died and it is at the camera doctor being repaired.  Apparently, it is going to take months before we learn whether it is going to live or die.  In the meantime, please be patient with pictures from my iPhone and my little CoolPix.

The triplets quilts are finished!!!  Well, the binding is on but I haven’t stuck a label on them yet.  The babies go in for their four month check up next week – so I still have 8 months to get the label on and get them mailed.  Don’t judge me. HA HA

Pictures of my leaders being placed on the frame system.  Hopefully, the pictures will help aid with the descriptions.  But please disregard the wrinkles.  I was just laying this out for demonstration purposes after pulling it out of a bag.  Also, I am not sure if you can tell, but this is the Scooby Doo quilt – which still is not finished.  It was just too easy to unzip the leaders and put a new quilt on the frame!  BTW, I tried Velcro for the leaders and it is soooo much better than the zippers.  Also, less expensive!  Try it – you’ll love it!

Episode 3 – Ham, Turkey or Quilt Sandwich

Episode 3

In this episode, I discuss how to make a quilt sandwich.  Due to technical difficulties, some sections were recorded as many as three times.  Therefore, by the third time, I could not remember if I had already mentioned something or not.  I hope pertinent information was not left out!!

I will put the finished quilt/wallhanging up when/if I ever do anything with either of these. HA HA! The Fig Leaf does not have a website, but if you are in the area, Google them and you will find directions to the shop.

Episode 2 – Tips for New Quilters

Sorry the notes are not complete for this episode.  I thought I already had a draft done up with links and everything.  Oh well.  I am leaving now with the two kids in tow to New Mexico for a week and then to Texas for a week.  I will try to update the notes in a couple of days.

Podcast: Episode 2 – Tips for New Quilters

Episode 1 – My First Podcast

This is my first post about my new podcast, Quilts ‘n Kids.  I have two kids, Dylan and Jadyn, ages 5 and 2.  I have been married to my high school sweetheart for the last 15 years and we all live in beautiful Colorado.  I am a CPA, working a flexible work arrangement at a public accounting firm.  In between kids, various home and recreational activities and work, I try to find some spare time for my obsession, quilting.

Podcast: Episode 1 – My First Podcast

Just to add one additional element to my busy schedule, I have decided to create a podcast and blog.  I am not technical and have been able to accomplish pretty much all of this on my own.  With the exception of actually posting everything and I had to enlist my computer savvy husband’s assistance with that part.  You can download my podcast directly from my blog or visit iTunes and become a subscriber.

Please leave me comments and let me know how I am doing.  Thanks for listening and learning more about me, my family and my quilting obsession.

Hello world!

This is post is going to be short and sweet because as usual it is late and I have to get up early in the morning.  Why is it that I embark on new adventures around 11 pm?  If you know me well, please feel free to honestly comment on that question.  If you don’t know me well, comment and let me know if you are the type who likes to think everything through and have a plan, or just take off on a whim and see where life takes you.  I am thrilled to be blogging and to be honest, I don’t have a plan.  I just want to see where this takes me.
